Drug Trafficking Charges Against Two Prominent White Corporate Men in Barbados

One Caribbean Nation.

Walter Prescod
Barbados,  a small island with a predominantly Black population, has been thrown into a frenzy, with the rare charge against two prominent white businessmen , for drug trafficking. The island is now in full debate mode, regarding the legal embattlement of these two corporate high flyers: Charles Herbert and Chris Rogers. Herbert being the Chairman and Rogers a director, of the hugely successful Goddard group(GEL) of companies.
The intrigue continues to grip the island, because Herbert, literally broke with white political tradition, and was heavily involved, in the ouster of the recently defeated Democratic Labour Party (Elections were May 24th 2018). He is known to be a great supporter of the newly elected, and first female Prime Minister, of the island, Ms. Mia Mottley, who heads the Barbados Labour Party. Additionally, he is the head of the powerful Private Sector Association. In aviation parlance , he can be said to have a great wing span.
The pot of the controversy has thickened because the drugs , were confiscated from the corporate yacht "Ecstacy", which is owned by the Goddard's empire. While Herbert, has publicly claimed innocence, after being granted bail in the amount of $400,000, keen observers of the issue, have suggested that they think that he "doth protest too much". While he foams at the mouth, Rogers his accomplice, seems to have taken a vow of silence.
The story has also taken on the looks of a culinary masterpiece because sandwiched between these two white business titans, is a black employee of the company,Walter Prescod, who over a decade ago, was charged and imprisoned with pedalling marijuana. This makes the story very representative of a well prepared Guyanese pepper pot-It does not get much hotter than this ! While the two whites have already secured bail, their black counterpart, is still awaiting , his $450, 000 bail, to make its way into the court's vault.
For decades, the question has been asked: "Do white Barbadians  commit crimes?"  The general, belief was that they do but they have enough resources , to hire the best legal brains, to keep them from within the walls of the island's lone prison, known as Dodds.
As the old fisherman used to say: "the big ones(fish) out there and sooner or later , one will be caught. The law enforcement agencies in Barbados, have accomplished an exercise, that many thought will never happen.
Against this background of: race , wealth, corporate and political connections, which go right up to the desk of the Prime Minister, many citizens believe that the charges, will soon disappear and they will be proven innocent thereby walking away from the courts free men.
Barbadians shall see.

Is there any up-dates on this article. I knew these men and their families, (long-time friendship with the Goddard/Rogers/Hebert families from many, many years ago), and had high regard for the 3 of them. Was just wondering if any additional information had come to light, or what was happening?
