Independence Day Cultural Tribute To Barbados

Image
The Caribbean Is One Nation. Today, Monday November 30th.,  Barbados celebrates 49 years of  Independence.  We wish Barbados all the best in the future. We decided to highlight the calypso/ comedy group MADD. This group more than any other current entertainment act, uses the bajan(Barbadian) dialect to effectively get its message and music across to its audience. In this piece , MADD puts a comic view on a relationship gone wrong. One of the hurt parties calls the then popular radio call in program Heart Break hotel putting his case to the program's host, Patrick Gollop. Enjoy ! HAPPY 49TH. BARBADOS

Dr. Rowley is Right on Housing Policy

Image
The Caribbean Is One Nation. Dr. Keith Riley, Prime Minister of Trinidad and Tobago The Mahogany Coconut Group, is in full support of Dr.Keith Rowley, the Prime Minister of Trinidad and Tobago, who has stated that his government will no longer, extend its subsidized housing program to those earning more than 25,000 TT per month. It is high time that government subsidies, in all sectors and areas be focused on those who can least afford to look after themselves. We have long posited that the so-called middle class in the region is hard to define and is often identified by class rather than earnings. This is a sorry relic of our colonial past when a teacher earning less than a self employed motor mechanic, would be considered middle class . It was more professional class than the pay packet. However, in the case of Trinidad ,we are more than convinced that the housing program of the last UNC administration ,was nothing more than an attempt to buy votes. We are further convin

This is what the Caribbean is competing with....

The Caribbean Is One Nation. Our politicians and industry leaders, are usually heard blowing hot air and utilizing cliches to bolster their standing and  insatiable egos. We just thought it would be instructive, to show what we are really competing with, as we make our mark on the world stage:

Former Prime Minister James Mitchell Opposes Reparations

Image
The Caribbean Is One Nation.  Submitted by The Mahogany Coconut Group Sir. James Mitchell “What we should be concentrating on, is how we get the industrial developed countries to spend more money on us. We have to learn to forget about the words slavery.”  Sir. James Mitchell former Prime Minister of St. Vincent and the Grenadines, addressing the 39 th . United Workers Party Convention (UWP) Sunday, November 15 th . 2015 Sir. James Mitchell, former Prime Minister of St. Vincent and the Grenadines, quoted above, also dismissed efforts to obtain reparations as “stupid”. This is easily the most venomous opposition to the reparations movement to date and it sends a clear message, that there are many prominent leaders and citizens in the region, who believe that seeking reparations is a complete waste of time. Sir James was once considered one of the more progressive leaders in the Caribbean and was highly respected as one, who brought some measure of creativity and clarity

Welcome Back Coach Simmons, Get off the field President Camron!

Image
The Caribbean Is One Nation. Time To Go, Cameron We at MCG were convinced from the very beginning of this fiasco with the West Indies Cricket Board and coach Phil Simmons that the Board would have to eat humble pie and reinstate him. We went so far as to suggest that the Board reinstated Simmons and be “fired”. The decision to reinstate Simmons so quickly after his dismissal is a clear sign that Mr. Simmons’ Breach of protocol did not merit such a severe action. Furthermore, the same two players that Simmons said should have been included in the team to Sri Lanka were eventually selected. In other words Simmons’ judgment was correct in the first place! We in the Caribbean are slowly but surely allowing misfits to chart our course and they are leading us into the land of tomfoolery. The WICB has made monumental errors and has consistently proven that it is neither capable of managing nor resuscitating our cricketing fortunes. We are convinced that it is also the poorest region

Woman Violently Beaten By Trinidadian Man

The Caribbean Is One Nation. Trinidadian Man violently assaults woman and is caught on camera. Here we have a woman being violently assaulted by a man (criminal), who in our opinion, should be put in prison for at least twenty five years. No more needs to be said. The accompanying video is evidence enough .   Use the link below: https://www.facebook.com/CNC3Television/videos/10153742492127996/ STOP THE VIOLENCE AGAINST OUR WOMEN , CHILDREN AND ELDERLY !!!!!!!

Ben Carson Is Terrible for Black Americans

Image
The Caribbean Is One Nation. Ben Carson Is Terrible for Black Americans By Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, TIME 05 November 15 Is he a success story? Yes. Would his presidency be an unmitigated disaster? Yes Dr. Ben Carson ow that Ben Carson is the leading GOP candidate, the doctor is under a lot more pressure, not just as a candidate, but as a representative of African Americans. The lifelong burden of a minority is that they feel as if everything they do or say reflects not just on their own character, but also on how the rest of their group will be judged by the ruling majority. Jon Stewart satirized this truth on The Daily Show with “Is This Good for the Jews?” in which he assessed how news about prominent Jewish people reflected on all Jews. Would President Ben Carson be good for African Americans? Ben Carson is good for African Americans in that he is a deeply moral man who has done much good as a physician and now wants to upsize his good-doing on a national and
