USA Must Stay out of Guyana and Venezuela

President Guyana Irfaan Ali

US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo

The Mahogany Coconut Group is not surprised that almost immediately after the recent elections and the change of government in Guyana, that the USA Secretary of State Mike Pompeo, has visited the country, attempting to use the newly elected government, to assist in efforts to remove the current Venezuela government and install a puppet of America’s choice.

We urge all CARICOM to unify and defend the sovereignty of Venezuela and the rights of the Venezuelan people, to choose the government of their choice. We also call on the regional leadership, to remind the USA, that the Caribbean will remain a zone of peace and to condemn any attempts by America, to use military force in Venezuela or any other country in the region.

The last time we saw the mighty USA in the region, it was crushing the revolutionary government of the people of Grenada. We recall with shame, the support of Caribbean leaders, who joined with then president of the USA Ronald Regan, in that dastardly act. Those Caribbean leaders are now remembered as traitors to the region and have not been forgiven for their nefarious acts. That is the price they paid for their treachery. We warn the government of President Ifaan Ali, that a similar fate awaits them if they engage in any treachery against the people of Venezuela.

We strongly suggest to Mike Pompeo, that he spends his time in his country opposing the obvious and reported threats to democracy, as the American people prepare for elections in November. We reference the attempts to depress and deny voter turnout especially among its Afro American citizens and other unsavory activities, that we will not mention or care to comment on at this time.

The MCG therefore expects all progressive forces in the region, to denounce any present and future actions by the United States to destabilize the government of Venezuela.
